 The etno-fest «Ulytau kumysi» was held in Kenebay’s lake

The etno-festival  «Ulytau kumysi» festival   was held on the shore of Lake Kenenbai, Ulytau District, Qaraghandy region. The project was sponsored by the National historical-cultural and nature reserve-museum «Ulytau»  of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the RK, with the support of the Akimat Ulytau.

«Ulytau kumysi» is a ethnocultural festival in the context of which cultural practices related to a horse's cult. The main concept of the event is the representation of the axiological function of rites «Bié Bailau» , «Kumys murundyk», the  production of national drink  –  Kumys in modern society.

Festival   has a five-year history called «Tersakkan Spring". This year, the traditional event is dated for the International specialized exhibition «Expo-2017», and includes a demonstration of the ceremony «Bié Bailau» , «Kumys murundyk» . Above-mentioned ceremonies were included into the National list of non-material cultural heritage of Kazakhstan in 2015. For introduction in the representative list of cultural heritage of mankind in March, 2017 consideration of a cycle of ceremonies of UNESCO from the Republic of Kazakhstan was offered. In 2018 introduction of ceremonies of an ethnofestival under the name "Traditional Spring Festivals of the Kazakh Horse Breeders" is planned.
